Seagate and Amazon partnered for the release of the Seagate Duet, an external hard drive that also syncs to the cloud. It's now available to pre-order for $99 with one free year of Amazon Drive Unlimited Storage, a $59 value.
The drive itself offers 1TB of storage, powered by USB 3.0 for "quick local transfer speeds". However, you shouldn't expect SSD-like speeds.The Seagate Duet syncs all data on the drive to the cloud, giving customers dual backup and access almost anywhere using Amazon Drive's suite of mobile apps.
Amazon says the Duet will begin shipping on December 10. The free year of Amazon Drive Unlimited Storage is only available to new, US users.
